BAHAWALPUR: Quaid-e-Azam Medical College Principal Prof Dr Javed Iqbal said that the medical graduates of the college have earned a worldwide appreciation for their enduring commitment to cure the ailing humanity.
He addressed 5th convocation of Quaid-e-Azam Medical College as a chief guest on Saturday.
“This has brought glory and grace for their alma mater during the last 50 years,” he remarked.
The convocation was presided over by Prof Dr Nawab Muhammad Khan, the founding principal of Quaid-e-Azam Medical College. Faculty members, doctors, notables of the Bahawalpur city, medical graduates and their parents were also present at the occasion.
“The rapid and multi dimensional inventions and innovations have revolutionised the medical profession and has posed gigantic challenge for faculty members as well as students to synchronise their capabilities with new and modern techniques,” Dr Javed Iqbal said.
He expressed his views for the medical college and said that the college has been a custodian of glorious and splendid heritage of medical profession and the students have honoured their ‘mother’ institution by serving humanity.
“It is time to institutionalise research and training in the domain of medical profession to meet the global challenge,” he said.
He declared the name of auditorium as Dr Nawab Muhammad Khan Auditorium to honour his remarkable services as the founding principal of the institution.
Earlier, Dr Javed Iqbal assured the new graduates that the faculty would strive to impart a great deal of knowledge and training to their students to enhance their capabilities.
While delivering his presidential address to the participants of the convocation Prof Dr Nawab Muhammad Khan cherished his 50 years of glorious memories and his dream of building a new institution entitled “Quaid-e-Azam Medical College”.
“It is a matter of pride for all of us that the sapling of medical institution has grown into full fledged tree of medical excellence during the last 50 years”, he declared. Later, medals and degrees were awarded to the graduates by Prof Dr Nawab Muhammad Khan, Prof Dr Javed Iqbal and faculty members.
