ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and former minister Sharjeel Memon has been granted a 15-day protective bail by Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday.
Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani approved the bail and Sharjeel Memon has been directed to appear in the relevant court until March 5.
Furthermore, IHC directed Memon to submit a bond, worth two million rupees.
Sharjeel Memon seemed afraid, despite getting bail, and kept on asking his lawyers whether National Accountability Bureau (NAB) would still arrest him.
Memon’s lawyers said that PPP leaders do not run away from cases, they face them. He said that ‘Ch Nisar and company’ are behind filing this corruption reference.
PPP leaders also said that NAB should not take retaliatory actions against PPP and were confident that Memon will emerge victoriously.
Sharjeel Memon faces corruption charges worth five billion and 77 crore rupees. Earlier, on Monday the PPP leader announced to face all the charges that have been filed against him.
