LAHORE: The Chief Minister’s e-Rozgar Scheme – a joint venture of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and Youth Affairs, Sports, Archaeology and Tourism (YASAT) – has received an overwhelming response from young graduates of age 35 years or below, as 33,105 candidates have applied for the scheme.
According to a statement, 16Phds, 1,794 MPhils, 15,574 masters, 15,134 graduates and 578 BTech (Hons) have applied for the programme.
The gender wise summary reveals that 23,815 (71.9 %) male and 9,290 (28.1 %) female have applied for the scheme. The district wise data shows 4,946 applicants from Lahore have applied for the scheme followed by 3,255 from Faisalabad, 2,248 from Multan, 2,023 from Rawalpindi, 1,430 Bahawalpur, 1,268 from Gujranwala, 1,222 from Sargodha and 1,026 from Rahim Yar Khan.
Applications from Attock, Bahawalnagar, Bhakkar, Chiniot, Dera Ghazi Khan, Gujrat, Hafizabad, Jhang, Jhelum, Kasur, Khanewal, Khushab, Layyah, Lodhran, Mandi Bahauddin, Mianwali, Muzaffargarh, Nankana Sahib, Narowal, Okara, Pakpattan, Rajanpur, Sahiwal, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Toba Tek Singh and Vehari were also received.
Selected candidates will be given three months training for freelance self-employment at 40 training centres by high profile trainers. Among these centres, five are dedicated for female candidates. In the first phase 10,000 candidates will be trained in three different batches in one year. These centres are being established at eleven universities of Punjab. The training will enable the youth to generate income approximately from Rs 40,000 to Rs 80,000 per month while working at home.
The programmes is aimed at minimising unemployment and providing young professionals with necessary means to earn an honourable earning online by collaborating with institutions and organisations that share the same vision.
The programme will provide graduates a platform to learn and apply their freelancing skills and will unveil the lucrative career opportunities for youth. On the basis of the infrastructure available, freelancing training centres (co-working spaces) are also being established in each district of the province.
